United in Manchester

We had a fine group of riders set out in bright sunshine on Saturday's KVBC ride in Norridgewock. We broke into three paced groups, and even the slow-paced group managed to finish before it clouded up, and everyone missed the rain. Many thanks to Denise and Brian for leading and for their post-ride hospitality, especially the home-baked cookies! This Saturday we will venture out on one of our early, venerable club rides starting in Manchester. Hope to see you Saturday! Saturday, May 16 - MANCHESTER "Manchester United" - a Spring tour from Manchester to Wings Mills. START: 9:30 AM, at the Manchester Elementary School parking lot on Rt. 17, near the junction of Rt. 17 & Rt. 202. The school is on the left just after you turn off Rt. 202 onto Rt. 17 West. DISTANCE: 12, 19 or 23 miles. TERRAIN: moderate, with one long hill. HIGHLIGHTS: We'll ride past Lakeside Orchards over back roads along some streams in and out of Wings Mills and take in some hilltop views. Saturday, May 9 - NORRIDGEWOCK "Not for Naught, Norridgewock" - a tour through Norridgewock, Smithfield, and Mercer. START: 9:30 am at the ride leaders' house at 434 Fredericks Corner Road, about two miles from the junction of Rt.2 in Norridgewock. Please park on either side of the driveway. DISTANCE: 29 or 32 miles. TERRAIN: rolling with a few hills. HIGHLIGHTS: scenic roads around North and East Ponds in Smithfield, and the not to be undone wiles of Norridgewock.
