More and More Apples!

We had some splendid weather on the KVBC ride on Saturday - a lot better than what had been alarmingly forecast earlier in the week, leading to some major rides (e.g.: the Seacoast Century in NH) being cancelled. Fortunately they did not cancel the Monmouth Apple Festival where we had a nice stop, sampling a number of apple treats to fuel the rest of the ride. If you missed the ride (or didn't get enough apples) fear not - John has another great ride laid out this Saturday which begins and ends at a local apple orchard. This ride is a sure pick! As we enter October, please note the 10:00 o'clock start time, and we'll look for you on Saturday! Saturday, October 3 - LIVERMORE "Boothby's Apple Ride" - a tour of the ponds and ridges around Livermore and Chesterville, with an apple orchard stop. START: 10:00 am across from Boothby's Orchard, 366 Boothby Road (Rt. 108) in Livermore. Park in the field across from the orchard. DISTANCE: 39 miles with a 24-mile cut-off. TERRAIN: moderately hilly with several good hills. HIGHLIGHTS: great back roads with numerous scenic views, and a stop at Boothby's Orchard, a family-owned farm for seven generations going back to 1865.
