Ride Leaders' Haven

We had a bizarre mix of weather on our KVBC ride Saturday in Farmington. It started out cold but sunnier than expected - until we climbed up the ridge on Cape Cod Hill in New Sharon, just in time to see a sudden squall roll in with rain, sleet and hail. It ended just as quickly as it started, and it was mostly sunny for the rest of the ride. Great fall foliage, too! We currently do not have a ride leader for the scheduled ride this Saturday in No. Augusta. It may be a "show & go" ride where folks who wish to can show up and ride together. Saturday, October 24 - NORTH AUGUSTA "Beyond Summer-Haven" - a fall tour through the Summerhaven section of Augusta, and Readfield, Wings Mills, and Belgrade. START: 10:00 am at the parking lot by the Career Center at 2 Anthony Avenue, off of Darin Drive, across from the Great Wall Buffet. DISTANCE: about 34 miles TERRAIN: moderate with some hills; route includes about a quarter-mile of gravel HIGHLIGHTS: many pretty ponds and streams and little-traveled back roads west of the capital.
