Pemaquid by the Sea
We had a rather hot ride from Sidney on the Fourth of July. The worst of the heat wave had passed but we were still seeking shelter in the shade where we could find it. The worst of the predicted air quality (wildfire smoke from out west) also held off, except for one ill-mannered truck driver who tried to "roll coal" on us in North Augusta. Otherwise we had great company and a great Fourth of July ride! If the heat is still getting you down, it should be a lot cooler along the coast, and fortuitously we will be riding down to Pemaquid on Saturday! Hope to see you then!

Down to Scotty
We had a beautiful day for our KVBC ride from Oakland on Saturday. The bright sun warmed things up to the point where we were thankful for any shade we could find, and the post-ride stop for ice cream was much appreciated. Our thanks to Tammy for another great ride (and some creative snacks!). Next Sunday we will meet at Hannaford's in Damariscotta (note 9:30 am start) for our annual ride down the coast to Pemaquid. Hope to see you all on Sunday!

Pemaquid Pro Quo
We had absolutely splendid weather for our ride from Smithfield on Saturday. We rode over fresh new pavement in Madison and stopped at the Father Rasle Memorial before the two rides split. Those of us on the long ride were delayed by a parade in downtown Madison, but because we were on bikes they thought we were just big kids so they threw us candy, too, and then let us go before anyone else. Next Sunday we will meet in Damariscotta (9:30am start time) for our popular tour down to Pemaquid Point. Hope you can join us!

You Otta Ride Damariscotta
We had another excellent ride out of Oakland last Sunday. It was cloudy and a lot cooler but the rains held off, and we only saw some drizzle at the very end of the ride. Many thanks to Tammy for leading the ride and making some special treats for the lucky ones who turned out. Next Sunday we will venture down to the coast for our annual ride from Damariscotta to Pemaquid - please note the 10:00 am start. Remember to bring a mask if you should need to stop in any stores (and don't forget helmets either). Hope you can join us, and if not, have a great holiday weekend!.

Down to "Scotti"
We had gorgeous weather for the ride from Wayne on Sunday. Another fine turnout got to enjoy some great back roads, some with new pavement, and some closed to motor vehicles due to bridge construction that had a bike and pedestrian pathway in place! Many thanks to Fritz and Susan for another fine ride in Wayne! This Saturday we will venture to the coast for what's become an annual KVBC tour from Damariscotta down to Pemaquid. Please remember to bring masks and be prepared to use them as need arises, stay well apart, clean those hands, and join us some other time if you are feeling sick. Hope to see you on Saturday!

Damariscotta on Draft
We had a splendid "Independence Day
Ride" last Saturday in Sidney, now in its 16th (or is it 17th?) year,
with nothing to hold us up but a cattle crossing in betwixt two
interstate on ramps. Yay, Sidney! And many thanks again to leader, Jim
Putnam, and all who took part. This Saturday we will venture down to
Damariscotta and a very popular ride down the coast to Pemaquid Point.
Will there be a lobster crossing? Who knows? We'll have to find out!

We've had some hot weather lately, but it was no deterrent to a
wonderful ride last Sunday from Sidney. We had some great roads with
new pavement and a fine group out - many thanks to Jim Putman for

beat the heat with a cool ride along the coast from Damariscotta to
Pemaquid Point. The scheduled follow-up ride on Sunday from Boothbay
will be a leaderless show-and-go ride for anyone staying over in the
area who is looking for a ride to do on Sunday. See you Saturday, and

We kicked off July with
the 14th annual "Independence Day" ride in Sidney on Saturday. The

set a brisk pace to avoid the forecast afternoon rains. Many thanks to
Jim Putnam and company for a great ride! This Saturday we will revisit
one of our popular rides on the coast, cycling from Damariscotta to

One if by Land, and Two by the Sea
We had a great ride Saturday in Sidney to kick off the holiday
weekend. Many thanks to Jim Putnam for leading his "Independence" ride up and
down the Kennebec and Middle Road, and to the great group of riders who turned
out!
We have a "double-header" planned for this weekend. This Saturday's KVBC ride will return to the scenic Pemaquid Peninsula with a great ride along the shore. There will be a follow-up ride on Sunday around Boothbay. These routes are not only scenic, but also a great trip to the coast, and there are many great places to stop and see the sights. Contact the ride leader for suggestions for overnight accommodations. Hope you can join us for one or both of these rides! To those of you with KVBC jerseys, we'd like to get a group picture on one of the rides this weekend, so if you can wear your jersey that would be great! Have a Happy Fourth!

Take a Bow
This Sunday the KVBC
ride heads back to Newcastle for another very scenic tour around
Damariscotta Lake, followed by a stop at the award-winning Oxbow
Brewery. This ride proved to be so popular last year that no one
complained about the rain - at least, no one complained to me, and I
missed the ride. I don't plan to miss it this year, and neither should
you, if last year's accolades are any indication. Hope to see you
Sunday!

Company on Rt. 215 in Newcastle, less than a quarter-mile east of the junction
of Rt.s 194 and 215. Look for the sign on the right of a owl carrying a
cask.
DISTANCE: 28 or 50 miles.
TERRAIN: moderately hilly to hilly.
HIGHLIGHTS: Damariscotta Lake, with many stately
lakeside homes, and lots of great scenery. Plus a post-ride stop at the Oxbow

it is suggested that folks may want to bring snacks, such as nuts, crackers,

Saturday we will meet in Newcastle at the Oxbow Brewery for what promises to be
a great ride around Damariscotta Lake. Our previously scheduled ride in Wilton,
the "Blueberry Metric," had to be CANCELLED - please pass that info along to
anyone who may have seen an earlier ride calendar. Leanne Moll has stepped up
