Round About Vassalboro

We had a fine ride last Saturday in Jay, with warm weather and some splendid scenery. Some of the roads could've been smoother, or dryer, but we had a great turn-out and a fun ride. This Saturday we will return to Vassalboro for a ride around one of our club's favorite areas. Please note that there will be a post-ride luncheon at the ride leaders' so an RSVP (as detailed below) to let them get a head count would be much appreciated. Hope you can join us!

START:  9am  at the home of David and Laura Lipman.  Condo is after Natanis Golf Course on ARROWHEAD DRIVE off of Webber Pond Road heading north. (Not to be confused with Fairway Drive. Use Barrows Road on your GPS and we are the next road on the  left after that)  Please park after the garages in the large dirt parking lot after the condo buildings.
DISTANCE: approx. 19 or 31 miles
TERRAIN:  Moderate to Hilly
HIGHLIGHTS: Views of China Lake and Webber Pond,  gentleman farms and country homes along the Neck Road.   Stay afterwards for a light lunch and to socialize with fellow bikers.  Please RVSP to laura.lipman@roadrunner.com so Laura can get an idea of how many will be staying for lunch.

Jay in May

We had a great ride last Saturday from Norridgewock, and we had a great turnout with another group of riders joining up with us for a ride through Norridgewock and Skowhegan. Our thanks to Denise and Brian - especially for the post-ride cookies - and to John and his group that came in from New Hampshire. It's hard to believe that Memorial Day weekend is upon us already. We will finish off the month of May with an all-new ride from Jay that will explore some little-traveled roads along the Androscoggin River. We'll look forward to seeing you; otherwise, have a great holiday weekend!

Bigelow Big or Low

We had a terrific ride last Saturday in Readfield, despite the cooler than expected "Spring" weather. We had a really fine turnout, with some new faces - Welcome! Thanks again to Lydia for leading and sweeping the ride. This Saturday we head north to Norridgewock for a route that runs along both banks of the Kennebec, crossing the river twice, and adds a possible stop at Bigelow Brewery on the way back. Due to insurance reasons, we ask that riders not consume any alcoholic beverages enroute, but you can still purchase some for later if you wish - we will have a vehicle to shuttle purchases from the brewery back to the ride start. Hope you can join us!

Saturday, May 18th - NORRIDGEWOCK
"Bigelow by Bike" - an early Spring tour through Norridgewock, Madison, and Skowhegan.
START: 10:00 AM at 434 Fredericks Corner Road, about two miles from the junction of Rt.2 in Norridgewock.
DISTANCE: approx 38 miles, with some shorter options available
TERRAIN: moderate with some hills
HIGHLIGHTS: some great riding along country roads, river crossings in Norridgewock and Skowhegan, and a possible stop at the Bigelow Brewery.
