Lincolnville on Sunday - thanks to Tammy - and this weekend is looking
good, too. This Saturday's ride is in Smithfield, another classic tour

Door to the Cellar
We had another splendid ride from Wayne on Saturday, and we had a
fine turnout despite some rather cool, cloudy conditions that looked
rather unsettled but turned out to be fine. We explored some great back
roads, including some new gravel options that really took some of us off
the beaten path. Many thanks to Fritz and Susan for leading, and for
all who came out! This Sunday we will head out to the coast for a tour
around the Camden hills that will feature a stop post-ride at the Cellar
Door Winery. Please note the 10 o'clock start, and see you then!
August 25th, Sunday: LINCOLNVILLE
“Out Through the Cellar Door” – a circuit of Megunticook
Lake, including Camden and the Cellardoor Winery and vineyard in
Youngtown (Lincolnville).
START: 10:00 A.M., at the Cellardoor Winery, 367 Youngtown
Rd, one mile east of Route 52. Please park along the winery driveway
leading up the hill across from the store, and not in the
customer parking lot behind the winery store. The folks at the winery
have in the past graciously allowed us access to restrooms and water before the
ride, but please NO CLEATS in the building. Thank you.
DIRECTIONS: From Camden, take Rt. 52 north for 5 miles and
turn right onto the Youngtown Rd for one mile. See the Cellardoor
Winery website for map and detailed directions: http://mainewine.com.
DISTANCE: 25-30 miles.
HIGHLIGHTS: Visit the winery store and take a walk through
the vineyards. Numerous lake views during the ride. Camden (&
Rockport). Part of the route is the official East Coast Greenway
interim on-road coastal route.
LUNCH: The winery has tables outdoors on the deck
overlooking the vineyard. They sell food & beverages, local cheeses,
breads, and other goodies. And of
course, they sell wine and have wine tasting.
LEADER: Tammy Jones, tjjones@colby.edu.

What? Wayne?
We had a fine ride last Saturday on the Tour de Whitefield. The
weather held up very nicely despite some dubious forecasts, and we had a
great post-ride lunch at the ride leaders' - many thanks to the
Griffins! This Saturday we will work our way over to Wayne for another
fine route with an all new gravel option for the adventurous. For the
not-so-adventurous, skinny-tire folks, there will be a fully paved
option, too. See you Saturday!
Saturday, August 17th - WAYNE
"Which Way to Wayne?" - a high summer ramble from Wayne to Fayette, Livermore, Leeds, and Winthrop.
START: 9 am at the Wayne Elementary School, 48 Pond Road, Wayne.
DISTANCE: 37 or 24 miles.
TERRAIN: flat to moderately hilly; an optional route with some gravel riding.
HIGHLIGHTS: scenic back roads with some great views, and a possible post-ride stop at Tubby's Ice Cream
in Wayne.
LEADER: Fritz Onion, fritz@pluralsight.com.

Whitefield Start Correction
Please note that Saturday's ride start is at 184
NORTH Hunts Meadow Road in Whitefield - not to be confused (hopefully)
with plain Hunts Meadow Road or South Hunts Meadow Road - the linked map
route below has it marked as the ride's "END". See you Saturday!
Saturday, August 10 - WHITEFIELD
"Tour de Whitefield" - a rural tour through the rolling hills and farms of Whitefield, Pittston, Jefferson and Windsor.

Aiming for an Amish Ride
Last Saturday we had a great ride from
Richmond to Wiscasset over some really nice back roads, under fair
skies, and in fine company. The stop at Treats bakery was much
appreciated as well. Our thanks to David Lipman for another fine ride.
This Saturday we will return to Whitefield, home to a sizeable Amish
colony, and also home to our ride leaders who are planning both a great
ride and a post-ride lunch at their house. Hope you can join us!
